If a traditional night at the theater is too stuffy and formal for you (although it shouldn't be, really), Thirst Theater, organized by Alan Berks, features local Actor's Equity members staging four or five original short plays downstairs at Joe's Garage amidst an audience noshing and imbibing libations. It's loose, a bit surreal, and a chance to see writers and actors taking a stab at themes and characters they couldn't dare present at more staid venues. The emphasis is on pointed comedy--wordy, subversive, and quite crackling in such an intimate space. 7:30 p.m. Mondays.
